Edgify raises $9M to bring self-learning AI to every device in the store

Round co-led by Rank Ventures and Mangrove Capital Partners, with participation from Sony Innovation Fund and Octopus Ventures.

.

Edgify, the on-device AI platform for retail, has raised $9M to expand deployment of self-learning models across the devices retailers already own.

The round is co-led by Rank Ventures and Mangrove Capital Partners, with participation from Sony Innovation Fund and Octopus Ventures.

Edgify's platform runs product recognition and checkout loss prevention directly on self-service scales, scanners, self-checkouts and POS terminals, without sending raw store data to the cloud. The company now runs on 8,000+ production devices across 2,042 stores in 12 countries.

The funding will go toward three things: extending hardware coverage beyond the 40+ OEMs supported today, expanding the MCP server layer that lets AI agents query live store operations, and growing deployment capacity in Europe and North America.

Why Edgify, and why now

Retail AI has largely been sold as new hardware. Edgify's position is that the compute is already on the shop floor and under-used: a self-service scale sits idle between customers, and that idle time is enough to improve a model on the store's own items.

Because training happens locally, what moves between stores is model learning rather than imagery, a design that makes the privacy claim structural rather than contractual.
